What July Shall Bring...a Benediction

I have a grand total of 35 days left in Los Angeles...and it turns out that Big Pink's days are indeed numbered. There is a plan afoot for some to stay and some to go East...and even farther...which will necessitate the abandonment of the house.
I think from the day we all saw Akron/Family in Las Vegas, our beautiful home faced the clarion call of fate. Not to give myself too much credit, but the knowledge that one of us could and would definitely leave is a catalyst for action.
Mike, Tyler, and I were talking about how the atmosphere these eleven months has shifted from downright depressing to hopeful. There were days when we didn't know what to do, days when we found meaning again in a few guitar chords, days where the haze of alcohol and ganja made the world seem perfect...and days where it actually was perfect.
We all wanted the same thing in the end. To grow and change and plot our destinies in an environment we felt RIGHT in. Through our differences, as Tyler said, we reflected each other and helped each other cross from being post-graduates to functioning adults. Most of the time, anyway. Chad still can light a grille on fire.
I don't know what the overall plan for the five of us is...even with my definite acceptance to Chicago, we're all improvising. But we have beliefs which won't go away, and we're going to make it somewhere.
If nothing else, in any time of need, I can always put on Akron/Family's hymn to the shining sun and remember these beautiful men...and the women who were always right on Big Pink's outskirts...and what they taught me, and I shall draw strength beyond measure.
